Way to Go, McFarlan's!

Congratulations to McFarlan’s Market on four years of success in Merchantville! Owners Pete Burgess and Janet Stevens purchased and rehabbed the old “Philly Fruit” in 2009 creating a niche corner market with a variety of product offerings. Since opening day they have amassed a loyal customer base built on quality and service. Their butchered meats are cut and ground to order, their sausage comes from Martin’s of Reading Terminal Market

Merchantville's Farmers Market kicks off its third season Saturday, June 21st. Come join us for some summer fun!

The Summer Parks and Playgrounds Program begins Monday, June 24th and runs through Friday, July 26th from 9 a.m. to noon at the Merchantville Community Center. Children who have completed pre-K through 10 years of age are invited to participate. Fees are: $150.00 for Merchantville residents and $175.00 for non-residents. Registrations can be obtained at Merchantville Borough Hall, 1 West Maple Avenue or during the week of the program at the Community Center.  For additional information call 856-662-2474 or Pat Fields, program director, at 856-663-8691.

140th Birthday Celebration

The annual Merchantville Birthday Celebration is fast approaching. Many of the preparations have been handled already however, we are in need of volunteers to help staff the event.  The Birthday will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014 on the grounds of Wellwood Park from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.Wellwood Park is located between West Maple, Hamilton and Linden Avenues. This is a rain or shine event. There will be traditional picnic, games, races including potato-sack, three legged and egg/spoon; a pie eating contest, a bounce house, balloon clowns and a dunk tank to name few. Refreshments by Cabana Water Ice. Music and entertainment will please the crowd throughout the day. 

The Public Events Committee welcomes additional volunteers to help on the day of this event beginning around 9:30 AM to coordinate vendors, setup etc.  We appreciate any time you can give us at any point in the day if you can't stay the whole time. Primary Election Day

Today is Primary Election Day in Merchantville. Our polling place is in the basement of the Community/Senior Citizen Center, 212 Somerset Street, at the end of Greenleigh Court. Polls are open from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. On the Democratic ballot for Mayor and Council are Edward (Ted) Brennan, Andrew McLoone and Katherine Swann and, for County Freeholder, Louis Cappelli, Joseph Ripa and Scot McCray. There are no candidates for County Freeholder or local government listed on the Rebublican Primary ballot.

School Closings: Monday, 3/3/14

Five inches of snow or more is possible for far southern New Jersey, Delaware, southern Maryland, central and northern Virginia, the District of Columbia and West Virginia. Within this swath, a few spots could see up to one foot of total snow through late Monday afternoon.  The following schools are closed: Merchantville School District, Pennsauken Township School District, Camden Catholic, St. Peter School, St Stephen's School, Camden Co. Technical School District, Bishop Eustace Prep, Paul VI High School and Audubon School District.

Art Reception Planned

Eilanarts Center invites you to join them on January 30th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. for the art reception of their current show "The Shape of Color". This show features local artists including center owner, Nicole Eiland, and others: Beth Fisher, Alison Judah, Kerry Mentzer, Nathan Rutkowski and Leeannwyn Stoner.
