SJ towns get $1M in planning grants

Camden's downtown streets could get a makeover, under a new study announced Friday by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission.The grants of federal and state funds were part of the planning commission's Transportation and Community Development Initiative, which seeks to coordinate local transportation improvements with land-use planning. Merchantville received a $35,000 grant for Planning for redevelopment of Town Centre East area. http://bit.ly/1vQqKRZ

Safety department hosts meet & greet

The Merchantville Department of Public Safety will host a “Meet and Greet Event” for the residents of the Borough to come out and talk to members of the Police and Fire Departments. The event begins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26th, at the old railroad station building on Chestnut Ave at Centre Street. Information regarding the Neighborhood Watch, and Helping Hand programs will be available. Free “Child Identification Kits” will be available for those residents with children.

DEA: Operation Take Back

Got Drugs? Turn in your unused or expired medications at Merchantville Borough Hall on Saturday, September 27th. Operation Take Back is sponsored by the DEA - Drug Enforcement Agency - for residents from the borough and neighboring communities to safely dispose of prescriptions that they no longer need or use. Music Fest just one week away!

Hey there, Music Lovers! Next week downtown Merchantville will rock with fabulous local music, food, artisans and activities - even an evening Wine & Beer Garden! The Merchantville Music Fest - Saturday, July 12th, 2014 - a fun day for the whole family from 1:00 - 9:00 p.m. For Kids we have the fun and fabulous Alex & The Kaleidoscope Band. This award-winning band will have you dancing and singing along in no time. Our second band is the always energetic, super imaginative and engaging, fitness-focused Lolly & YoYo! And, rounding off our three kid's music bands will be The Lara & Joe Show! They play rock 'n' roll for kids - everything from the ABC's to the Rolling Stones. They have been playing the Philly kid's music scene for a while and we are so excited to bring Pennsauken native, Joe, back over the bridge! All Board of Educations in Camden County have opted to change the date of the election from April to November. To run as a candidate for the Merchantville Board of Education in the November General Election: Your petition must be filed with the County Clerk’s Office before 4:00 p.m. on or before Monday, July 28, 2014. Nomination Petitions are available at the County Clerk’s Office during normal business hours or can be downloaded here.

Eilanarts Center invites you to join them on January 30th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. for the art reception of their current show "The Shape of Color".
