’56 Men’ hit the road with new record of songs

Today, 56 Men is performing songs from a brand-new album, “Landing Lights.” The band is signed to indy label Zip Records, which is getting it distributed through all the digital channels. It played a successful record-release party at Tin Angel in Center City on Saturday, Sept. 14.  “We’re heading up to play out more,” Borelli said. “This album had been a year in process. We started rehearsing to play again about six months ago.” That process took place at Smash Palace studios in Merchantville, N.J. That studio is named for the band of owner Steve Butler, who recorded, produced and played guitar on “Landing Lights.” Smash Palace is a power pop band that Butler formed in 1985. http://bit.ly/19VSn10

Fire at the Clip Joint

MERCHANTVILLE, N.J. - August 23, 2013 (WPVI) -- Officials say a firefighter was injured battling a store blaze in Merchantville, New Jersey early Friday morning. The fire broke out around 12:30 a.m. on the 100 block of South Center Street. Crews were called to the scene of a store with apartments above on fire. One firefighter was taken to the hospital after pulling a muscle. Four residents from the apartments were displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross. The fire appears to have started in the store area, officials say. The cause of the blaze is under investigation. http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=news/local&id=9216301

Merchantville native Janet Stevens joined the family real estate business after graduating from Franklin & Marshall College in 1981. The Realtor blood in her veins flows back to her great-grandfather, who built and sold residential houses and lots in what became known as the Amon Heights section of Pennsauken.

Eilanarts Center invites you to join them on January 30th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. for the art reception of their current show "The Shape of Color".
