entire graduating class from Merchantville School at Haddon Heights High School, a new scholarship was formed. The Marie Carroll Merchantville/Haddon Heights High School Scholarly Achievement Award is awarded to a resident of Merchantville who graduated from Merchantville School in 8th grade that is currently a resident of Merchantville and is graduating from Haddon Heights High School with the highest cumulative GPA for Haddon Heights High School career. For the Class of 2021, a $500 scholarship was awarded. A committee of trustees determines eligibility and needs to determine how much each student earns. The Carrols, who were childless, lived at 1 Oak Terrace. Walter R. Carroll, who died in 1955, was a well regarded Camden attorney from the firm Carroll, Taylor & Bishoff, started the fund "in appreciation for all that the public school system had done for him".

The Carroll Will
Thanks to a generous bequeathment from Merchantville residents Walter and Marie J. Carroll, Merchantville School students enjoy a wide variety of opportunities to learn more about the arts and enrich their educational experiences. During the 2021-2022 school year, 24 college-aged eligible students were awarded $97,000 and $50,685 was spent on school projects including academic field trips and art enrichment field trips, student art programs, various clubs, and musical supplies.
