Virginia 'Bunny' Oakford

Virginia "Bunny" Oakford (nee Hudson), age 93 years of Cinnaminson, passed away on December 10, 2019.  Beloved wife of the late C. Brooks Oakford.  Devoted mother of Candy "Virginia" Curry (Neal), Gail Humes (Dave), Randy Oakford and Penny Trost (Rick).  Loving grandmother of Dana Cornog (John), Clay Curry (Sarah), Dave Humes, Ryan Trost (Sarah) and Cara Trost and great grandmother of Kayleigh, Tyler, Casey, Caitlin, Loa, and Charlotte.  Dear sister of the late Peggy Morrow.
Prior to retirement, Bunny was owner and operator of Aunt Charlotte's Candies in Merchantville since 1947. A Memorial Service will be held in the near future. Falco-Caruso Funeral Home. Courier-Post article.

Nunzio 'Buzzy' Bianco

Nunzio J. “Buzzy” Bianco Jr., longtime Merchantville resident passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2019. He was 88. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Buzzy had retired after many years working as a skilled Millwright for the Millwright and Erectors Local 1906. He was a longtime and dedicated member of St. Peter RC Church in Merchantville and the Square Circle Sportsmen in Gibbsboro. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 64 years, Loretta; a loving son, Michael Bianco (Karen); three caring grandchildren, Tiffany (Paul), Christopher Harry (Britney), Tammie (Jack); two cherished great-grandchildren, Thomas and Dominic; a dear sister, Anna Cappelletti; numerous nieces and nephews; and predeceased by ten siblings. For more information and condolences please visit www.gaskillbrown.com.

Admiral Fallon to Speak

Admiral William J. Fallon, a retired U.S. Navy four-star admiral who was the first Navy officer to be appointed Commander of the U.S. Central Command, will speak at a Veterans Day ceremony aboard the Battleship New Jersey. Fallon, who was raised in Merchantville, and graduated from Villanova University, was the Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command and U.S. Atlantic Fleet from October 2003 to February 2005. He served as Commander, U.S. Pacific Command from February 2005 until March 2007. His awards include the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, and various unit and campaign decorations. Congressman Donald Norcross (D-1st District) will join him as a speaker during the ship's Veterans Day ceremony on Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. on the ship's forward deck. Battleship volunteer Nan LaCorte will perform the National Anthem and "Taps" on the bugle. A memorial wreath will be cast onto the Delaware River to remember all veterans who have passed.

Dr. "Jack" Rudolf, 107

Dr. John P. “Jack” Rudolph, formerly a longtime Merchantville resident, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the age of 107. Jack was born in Camden on August 26, 1912, and had very fond memories of how beautiful a city it was to live in at that time. As a young boy, Jack, along with his brothers Richard and Robert moved to Merchantville with their parents Oscar and Ruby. Jack was a graduate of George School, Lafayette College and Jefferson Medical College where he earned his Medical Degree.  Dr. Rudolph was a WWII Veteran serving with a core team of local doctors and nurses in the 61st Station Hospital from Cooper Hospital. He spent over three years in North Africa and Italy, earning the rank of Major. He would later serve his community for many years through his own medical practice located in his home on Springfield Avenue in Merchantville. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday, November 1st from 5 to 7 pm at the Gaskill-Brown Funeral Home, 33 West Maple Avenue, Merchantville. Graveside service in Harleigh Cemetery will be on Monday, November 4th at 11 am.  Full obituary.
