Robert J. Caruso, Sr.

Robert J. Caruso, Sr., age 90 years passed away peacefully on August 29, 2019. Beloved husband of the late Shirley (nee Falco), he is survived by his children: Robyn Crain (Richard) of Berlin, Robert Jr. (Barbara) of Atco, Anthony (Melissa) of Voorhees, Andrea Cortellessa (Martin) of Northfield & Loret McClain (Stephen) of Berlin. Devoted grandfather of Robert III (Jessica), Bryan, Emily, AJ, Marty, Stephen, Madalyn & Ava. Also survived by his sister-in-law Eleanor Caruso and brother-in-law Joseph Falco. Bob grew up in Merchantville, NJ, graduating high school in 1949. He was the youngest son of Dominick and Rose Caruso's seven children. Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the Falco/ Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Road and Wednesday from 9:30-11:00 AM at the Church of St. Simon Stock (formerly Our Lady of Mount Carmel), 178 W. White Horse Pike in Berlin, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Full obituary.

Robert M. Evans, 89

Robert M. Evans, a retired computer executive, Air Force veteran and and avid photographer, died Thursday from complications of pneumonia at his home in the Cloisters in the Woodbrook neighborhood of Baltimore County. He was 89. He was the son of Donald Irving Evans Jr., a DuPont Co. draftsman, and his wife, Betty T. Middleton, was born and raised in Pennsauken Township, New Jersey. A scholar-athlete, Mr. Evans was a 1950 graduate of Merchantville High School, and because of his athletic prowess as an outstanding basketball player, he earned an athletic scholarship to the Johns Hopkins University, where he played forward on the university’s basketball team and was the top scorer. A visitation for Mr. Evans will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Mitchell-Wiedefeld Funeral Home, York and Overbrook roads, Rodgers Forge. In addition to his wife and son, Mr. Evans is survived by a daughter, Sally Lee Yost of Pinehurst; a sister, Eunice Buzby of Detroit; and three grandchildren. Full obituary.

Susan Catherine Stine and Alexander Ulises Romero Baires were married Aug. 10 in Baltimore. Ms. Stine, 29, is a program specialist in Washington for the United States Forest Service’s international programs office. She graduated from American University and received a master’s degree in international educational development from the University of Pennsylvania. Susan is a daughter of Sharon Hartson Stine and Robert A. Stine of Merchantville, N.J. The couple met through the dating website OkCupid in 2015, and had their first date in Washington.

Frances E. Hill, 79

Frances Elizabeth (Burroughs) Hill, 79, of Ephrata, PA, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2019. Fran was born on February 6, 1940, and graduated from Merchantville High School in 1957. She earned her R.N. from Presbyterian School of Nursing in Philadelphia in 1960. She married Phillip R. Hill on December 21, 1961. They were married for 43 years until Phil's death in 2005. Fran is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Hill (East Greenville, PA) and Kristen McQuillin (Kamogawa, Japan), her granddaughter, Helen Kaucher (Ephrata, PA), and her brother, George Burroughs (Magalia, CA). Friends will be received at Eicher Arts Center from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 18th. To offer condolences, visit gravenorhomeforfunerals.com. Art Reception Planned

Eilanarts Center invites you to join them on January 30th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. for the art reception of their current show "The Shape of Color".
