In 2018, Spotted Lantern Fly populations were found in New Jersey and a state quarantine encompassing 3 counties has been established by the NJ Department of Agriculture. People and businesses travelling in and out of Mercer, Hunterdon, and Warren counties should inspect their vehicles for hitchhiking SLF as well as inspect outdoor items such as firewood, paving stones, lawn equipment, etc. for egg masses (see checklist). Quarantine compliance will reduce the spread of SLF to new areas and counties thereby protecting New Jersey resources including forests and agriculture. To help survey efforts, please report sightings (with photograph) to This email address is being protected from spambots. The Public Works department has announced a new schedule for brush and yard-waste pick up. For the East Side (properties from Center Street eastward to Ivins Avenue) pick-up is on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month; West Side (properties from Center Street westward to West End Avenue) pick-up is on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month; and, there is NO pick-up on the 5th Wednesday of the month. Brush consists of: leaves, tree limbs, grass clippings, hay, corn stalks, organic matter; which can be bagged, put in cans or tied in bundles of no more that 40 Lbs. or 4 feet in length. Please have items ready for pick up by 7:00 a.m.

Come join us for some summer fun!  The Borough of Merchantville's Parks and Playgrounds Program begins Monday, June 24th and runs through July 26th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (closed on 7/4 & 7/5) at the Merchantville Community Center, 212 Somerset Avenue. All children 4-10 years of age are invited to participate. Parents can register children at Borough Hall or on the first 2 days at the Community Center. The cost is $175.00 for residents and $200.00 for non residents - $25.00 discount for each additional child. Today is primary election day in New Jersey, as voters across the state pick the Democratic and Republican nominees who’ll run for a number of state, county, and local positions in November. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. throughout New Jersey. New Jersey has open primaries, which means unaffiliated voters can cast ballots. All you need to do is walk into your polling station and request a ballot for either party’s race. Topping the ticket are the nods for all 80 seats in the state Assembly, the lower chamber of the state Legislature, the body in Trenton that writes the Garden State’s laws and passes its budget. There are also numerous county and municipal elections throughout New Jersey, determining who’ll represent the major political parties in freeholder, mayoral, and council races on November’s ballot.

Merchantville's "Market Off Centre" will bring their farmers market to the downtown on the First Fridays of each month from June to October. It kicks off on Friday, June 7th from 5:00-9:00 p.m. and you can track the food and craft vendors, local businesses and community organizations who are joining us opening night on our Facebook page. Enjoy mingling with neighbors and friends as you enjoy with food, vendors, live music and special events like movies and much more.
